I bet you've never heard of this program until now. Every once in a while, you run into a new finding or a better solution that can help you become more proficient in the IT field. One of these hidden gems is a small program called Steps Recorder. It's a free IT documentation program that comes pre-installed with Windows.

The program itself is relatively easy to use, click Start Recording and then preform the actions your are trying to document. As your preforming your actions, the program automatically takes screenshots and logs every click you preform during the recording. Once your done recording, you can easily go back through and review the actions your preformed.

The benefits of using this program is that you can record your actions instead of having to take multiple screenshots in a Word document. The only downside to this program is that you cant add notes after your done recording. So If you have extra stuff to add to your notes, you need to add it before you click Stop Recording.
