The Big City Blog Station - Pokémon Gen 3: now kiss, old and new.

Time to drag this blog into the new year with a post, and for those that haven't played any Gen 3 Pokémon game, be warned that there are spoilers.

Like probably most of you here I got one of the Generation 3 Pokémon remakes (Alpha Sapphire, because my 3DS is blue). Now being me, I wanted to see how faithful this reboot was to the original, which meant a playthrough of both games. You might think: "why can't you just enjoy the game like a normal person?" My reply is: "I'm not a normal person, m'kay?"

Anyway, after claiming a copy of the original Pokémon Sapphire (since I stupidly did not get it the first time round) and cracking out my old Game Boy Advance, I started this comparison of epic proportions.

Aside from the obvious graphical differences between the two, was the fact that the GBA version of the game seemed slightly more demanding and difficult than the 3DS remake. There are may points where things are made easier in the newer game, like when you save the Devon researcher in the Petalburg woods. In the original he just gives you a great ball, but in the remake he gives you the EXP share. Another point is that you have to earn the PokéNav after you defeat the first gym in the original, yet in the remake you get it at the begining.

The remake, however, retains the old "obiedience level caps" when it comes to traded Pokémon. In other words, traded 'mon over level 10 won't obey you until you get at least TWO gym badges (this includes ones recieved via mystery gift).

Those are the main points of differences that I have found so far. I will talk about other differences when I find them.

ASSIDE:
To those suggesting how I get noticed, I am participating in a collab (although it might not make it, the rate it is going). I might keep those tips in mind.
