Shadzify's Somewhat Interesting Thought Dump - To the Open Internet; I salute thee, FCC

So after a lengthy battle, encompassing several months of hasty telephone calls to Congress, numbers of online petitions, and many, MANY campaigns in the streets, the Federal Communications Commission yesterday ruled in favor of Net Neutrality with a 3-2 vote of approval. http://www.npr.org/blogs/thetwo-way/2015/02/26/389259382/net-neutrality-up-for-vote-today-by-fcc-board
A narrow margin, but eking it out regardless.

Considering FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler's previous intentions were to side with the big telecoms like Verizon, Comcast, Time Warner and so on in order to create Internet "fast lanes," this outcome is all but a breath of fresh air for those pressuring the big-ups to disown that policy in favor of an open Internet. To say it was a helluva road to get here is a huge understatement. But in the end, what matters most is; you, the people of the Internet, let your voices be heard. You spoke up loud and clear to the FCC and those Republican feckheads in Congress, and you let them hear your message: "We want Net Neutrality." So for your efforts, I raise a glass of milk in your honors. You Internet peoples is beautiful~

..........SPEAKING of the aforementioned telecoms:

I mean, wow. There's taking your loss lightly, and then there's shit like this. Considering Verizon ironically called themselves a carrier of the Title II reclassification of the Telecommunications Act, their response is the equivalent of a school bully getting rightfully beaten up, then later limping off crying "I LET YOU WIN!!!"

Ah, well. Let 'em be salty all they want. We got our Internet back. And that's what should really count.

Cheers, my lovelies.
