Still catching up, don't mind me.
So Wednesday arrived, and I was excited for it. Unfortunately it turned out to be boring, and then it got worse.
Morning routine complete, we set off... to a path just outside the campsite. Yep, we went on a walk down the shore (we're on a campsite near the shore of Loch Ness). Unfortunately, there was a problem. Yep, the bloody insects again, except there wasn't as many this time. But we forgot the spray, so yeah. That sucked. And the path was muddy and hard to navigate in places.
So that didn't go well. Hoping the rest of the day would be better we set off for Inverness, to go see some dolphins at a viewpoint. At which point we were relocated to w beach, where we'd actually see them. Makes sense. So we went there and it seems the entire rest of Scotland had the same idea - there was basically no parking space.
Luckily someone was exiting as we arrived, so we parked up. I was going to wait and make sure there was actually dolphins before I got out and tried to take pictures. And sure enough, they saw some, so I got out. And sure enough, I didn't see any and my phone didn't have enough power to take pictures.
So I was well annoyed at this point, so I went back to the car where my mother was. (She'd stayed inside as she didn't want to get cold.) It turned out you could only see the dolphins' fins anyway, so I guess I was never going to get any good pictures. And things looked up again.
Unfortunately, whenever things seem to go okay on days like this, something likes to happen that ruins the whole day. And that happened soon after when some man came up to our car and started verbally abusing my mother as apparently the way we were parked was "blocking everything off", despite the fact 1) we weren't, and 2) loads of other people were Parker in a similar way to us, he just happened to pick on us. She calmly informed hints that she was in no position to do anything, as she can't drive, so she'd phone my dad and get him to move it. That didn't seem to help as he continued, and stormed off, threatening to call the police.
So my mother rang my father, he came back and found the man, and they had a blazing argument.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh.
If there's one thing that I really can't deal with, it'd blazing arguments. This, for me, was tbr thing that ruined the day, and made me upset at the time. The rest of my family managed to joke about it but I didn't find the situation funny at all (probably as I hardly have any sense of humour).
After that, we went into Inverness proper, and had some food at a Wetherspoon's (a chain of pub/restaurant combos here in England), namely The King's Highway. We had loads to eat, and the food was delicious too. But not even that could offset the rest of the day.
It's a shame really, things were going so well and then yesterday happened. I don't think there's much on the agenda for today either. We leave tomorrow so we'll be packing tonight, for a swift exit as we plan to go home via Balmoral Castle, tbr Queen's Scottish residence. That might be interesting, but we'll have to see.
