NOTE: The rules regarding this Nuzlocke run can be found in Chapter 1.

In this part, I foil Team Rocket’s plots in the Game Corner and Lavender Tower, cull the obese, and make my way down a bike path, shortly after remembering I didn’t even have a bike.

This is the first part of this run where I don’t remember exactly what order I’m supposed to do stuff in. I’m fairly sure I start with giving a guard a beverage and going to the Game Corner basement. From there, I shall improvise.

So I start from the Pokemon center, with my pokemon freshly healed. I go to the Game Corner, where I walk up to the grunt guarding the poster, and promptly slap his shit. I then head into the basement. In the first basement floor, I do the same to the grunts as I did to the one on the surface (although having Sup Ash get to half health due to a Raticate’s Hyper Fang crit), and do the same to some of the ones on floor B2F, the ones on B3F, and the one that drops the Lift Key on B4F (Somewhere in the process, a Koffing hit Blaze It with Selfdestruct, which would have been near fatal had it crit).

So after getting the Lift Key, I go back to B2F and complete the slide puzzle (which is much easier than I remember it being) and walk up to B1F and beat the remaining grunts, getting AngryDragn to evolve into Charizard in the process. I then head to B4F to get the Silph Scope (and because, frankly, I’ve explored every other nook of the hideout). I get Blaze It to level 35, allowing it to learn the last move that it cannot learn while evolved.

So with that, I come to Giovanni. I don’t remember his roster, so I go in blindfolded.

I start with AngryDragn, while he starts with Onix. That will not do, especially now that Charizard has quadruple weakness to rock. I switch to Blaze It, who proceeds to one-shot Onix with Absorb. Giovanni switches to Rhyhorn, which dies in the same fashion. He then switches to Kangaskhan, who I take out with AngryDragn, since I still don’t have any fighting types in my group, and it’s unlikely that I’ll acquire one.

So that battle easily taken care of, I scoop up the Silph Scope and head back to the Pokemon center, where I heal up for the adventures ahead (now that I know what I’m actually doing).

I start by trying to give the guard a drink, but none of them will have any of it (maybe I DON’T know what I’m actually doing). So with that, I walk back through the underground path to Lavender Town, where I shall traverse the Lavender Tower, which should be easy enough to run through, since all of the trainers are already beaten.

So on the fourth floor of the tower, I come across a wild Gastly, which is pretty much a sleep-and-capture. Unfortunately, since I can’t get it to evolve into a Gengar, it will most likely never see any action. Nevertheless, Two Spooky joins the party.

I continue up the tower, eventually burning through the Marowak guarding the stairs to the roof of the tower. I then deal with the three Rocket grunts, almost losing Sup Ash once more to a Koffing. I reach Mr. Fuji, who gives me the Pokeflute. Time to move some fatasses. I move south of Lavender Town to deal with Snorlax #1. I lead with Blaze It, whose absorb should take advantage of Snorlax’s huge HP pool. Snorlax opens with Headbutt. I open with Sleep Powder, which Snorlax uses his berry to get out of. He then uses yawn. I switch to AngryDragn. Snorlax then uses rest, which does nothing, since his HP is full. I use Flamethrower and Wing Attack, getting him to about half health. He then gets a critical headbutt, bringing AngryDragn down to about half health. I switch back to Blaze It, where I spam acid, healing with moonlight when I get lowish on health. After several rounds of Rest abuse, I finally manage to get Snorlax down.

This fight really woke me up. My pokemon are really at risk, so I’ll be more cautious with fatass #2. I make my way out to Celadon City, where I head further west to deal with the second fatass. Thankfully, he goes down easier, due to a combination of him using Rest more and Blaze It’s Acid reducing defense more frequently.

So I get to Fuchsia City via the route of Fatass 2. Sadly, no decent pokemon exist on this series of routes, so I’ll reserve it for a water type pokemon. I get Fly, which comes in extra handy, since I never actually got a Bike. So I fly to Cerulean City to get one, then go on my merry way on the bike path.

The game starts to get a bit challenging. I lack hard counters to Koffing and Weezing in my group (although AngryDragn inexplicably crits just about every Weezing it hits with Flamethrower). I almost lose pokemon in my group multiple times on the path. Thankfully, I make it through with no casualties. I leave the trainers on the route at the bottom of the bike path so I can heal first before getting back to them.

I get back to them, using ShortStack to counter Flying with Rock Slide. I come very close to losing her to a Dodrio, but still prevail. So with the last trainers on the route dealt with, I head back to the Pokemon Center to heal. Additionally, I make one last swap before I close out this chapter. I need a proper counter to pokemon like Koffing and Weezing with the Fuchsia Gym coming up. ChuckEChiz has been little more than an HM slave as of late, so I swap him out for RNGsus.

So with that, I close out this chapter. How much longer will I be able to cheat death? Will RNGsus die to some stupid shit before I can even evolve her? Will I be able to overcome my minor typing issues to earn myself a Soul Badge? Find out next time on Darkie Does Nuzlocke!
