NOTE: The rules regarding this Nuzlocke run can be found in Chapter 1.
In this part, I alter my party and attempt to win a Fuchsia Badge.

I start this chapter by departing Fuchsia City and heading West. Why west, you may be asking yourself? Well, as it turns out, in Gen 3, you cannot access the water on the Bike Path, so fishing something up isn’t doable. So I might as well get a pokemon off this route.
And as fortune would have it, a Doduo is my first wild pokemon (the only thing that I didn’t already have). I start with Blaze it, get a successful Sleep Powder off, and capture it with no issue.
So Check Em joins the party. After looking through the stats of Fearow vs. Dodrio, I decide to replace Sup Ash with Check Em. While Check Em doesn’t have any flying moves, I do have the Fly HM, which will be good enough (and besides, it was what I mainly used on Sup Ash anyhow). If Check Em dies, I’ll at least have a good replacement.
So with that taken care of, I proceed to grind (for the first time since Vermilion City) both Check Em and RNGsus, with the latter being a bitch to grind for a while due to a lack of Exp Share. Once again, insert your own montage music here, since I’m running out of ideas for such songs.
So after getting them both evolved and leveled up decently, I move on. I fly to Lavender Town, and head south. I get a Super Rod and blow through the trainers on the route, further leveling my group, RNGsus and Check Em in particular. Now that I have a Super Rod, it’s time to do some backtracking.
I fly to Vermilion City and head East. Remember how I didn’t want to try and go for and wild pokemon here? I had a reason for doing so. I needed a water pokemon to fill out my roster. So I go fishing, and reel up a Horsea, which was the most likely thing that I’d get on my rod. I send out Blaze it, sleep it, and catch it. Geyser joins the party.
I was never a big fan of Horsea, but if somehow I can’t catch a Tentacool or Tentacool dies, I’ll have a backup.
And now I fly back to Fuchsia City and head for the Safari Zone so I can loot the area, and get my Surf HM as well. Sadly, due to my rules, I can’t catch anything here, although there are plenty of pokemon that would have been really useful.
So I get as many items as I’m able to reach in the Safari Zone, walking out with the Surf HM, and the Gold Teeth, which also allow me to get the Strength HM. With that, time to bring out Chuk to be my temporary HM slave. Once again, I do some backtracking, using Cut to reach a few more trainers and items on the route(s) between Fuchsia and Lavender, and pushing the boulder in the house where I got the strength TM.
So now that I have everything I wanted to do taken care of, it’s time to move on to the Fuchsia Gym. I defeat 2 of the trainers (which, despite it being a Poison Gym, have psychic types), then remember that there are some trainers south of Fuchsia City that I can reach. So after swiftly beating them, I return to the Gym.
I deal with the remaining trainers, who still have a stupid lack of poison types, and reach Koga. Although my group is rather underleveled, I decide to take a gamble and fight him anyway. He opens with Koffing, while I open with RNGsus. I open with Psybeam, which instantly kills Koffing. Easy enough. His next pokemon is Muk. I switch to ShortStack, since Muk’s special Defense would have made it tricky to kill him with RNGsus. I open with Magnitude, which is just as I feared, a Magnitude 4, which does jack shit for me. He opens with Minimize. I use Magnitude again, only to hit with Magnitude 5 (seriously, RNG?). He hits me with Sludge, which doesn’t do terribly much to me. I go with Magnitude once more, getting a whopping Magnitude 8, which doesn’t really help, since I already had Muk at half health (but at least he didn’t evade any of my attacks, yeah?). He switches to Koffing, which I once again destroy with RNGsus. His last pokemon is Weezing. While I’m tempted to just keep RNGsus, Weezing is pretty high level, so I decide to switch to AngryDragn. I open with Flamethrower, which takes out roughly half of Weezing’s health. Weezing opens with Sludge, which takes out about 30% of my health. I hit with Flamethrower again, taking Weezing out for the count, giving me a hard-earned Soul Badge.
So with that, this chapter is almost over, but there is one more thing I want to take care of. In earlier chapters, I attempted to go into Saffron while loaded with drinks, one of which I planned to give to a guard. However, none of the guards would let me pass. After doing some research, it turns out that in the remakes, you have to get Tea from an old lady in Celadon City (probably to allow players stupid enough to lose all of their money to progress in the game, which does make sense, although it would be nice if there was some hint of it).
Anyhow, I make my way to the Pokemon Center and close this chapter. Will I foil the plans of Team Rocket immediately, or will I try to find a Tentacool using my newly acquired Surf ability first? Have I finally almost finalized my party? How will I deal with the Saffron Gym without any good Dark types? Find out next time on Darkie Does Nuzlocke!
