So how many of you guys heard of my Paper Mario Low HP Challenge Let's Play? Yes, yes I know, it's one of the most exciting things to ever come out of YouTube. I mean hey, 122 views on the first one is a pretty good start. Though it has been almost a month since a new video popped in. "I'll put it up tonight when I sleep" I say one day, then I end up watching Venture Bros. on Netflix, downloading Blood Dragon, and accidentally stay up too late where a three hour upload would interfere with anyone using the internet for business. Though tonight will change as I'm pretty much free of using the internet at times when I would be uploading them and now I have about three videos ready to be put up instead of one so I won't have to rush myself to work on the next one at the last minute. It's a shame the money grubbing bastards at Nintendo decided to take my monetization rights and now they get the ad revenue, so I burned my Wii and ripped everything with the word Nintendo on it until they change their ways.
This isn't really anyway of an advertisement because my work is unseen for something that maybe impressive for people to watch. Well okay maybe it is, but this ain't about money or me being the main part of the video rather than discussing about the game itself. Sure anybody these days can do Let's Plays with a matter of getting free screen capture programs, both legally and illegally, and some capture devices can go cheap for around ten dollars, whether it's good or not. However it's not what you got ready, it's what you're going to bring to the table.
Take me for example. I'm doing a Paper Mario Let's Play. Many people have heard about the game however and I do know this. It doesn't help that there are lots of other Paper Mario LPs out there such as the Let's Play Archive LP (Some of that fan art is great, if it works), one by Panzer Wafflebutt (It's like one of the most popular results I've looked up), and even the ever so popular one from the64brotherwho can play video games on a reflective pool by the by. You're already seeing my point though; many other people have done this and it's pretty clear that most of them are there for just being entertainment as the host rather than the game. I could be very wrong about for the most part, but then you got ones with face cams which is a clear way of saying "Look at me look at me look at me." And honestly what is the point of face cams? It kind of makes sense when you're doing a scary game like Slender (haha, wow I think I accidentally made a joke there) or Fatal Frame, but it's fucking Paper Mario. What kind of reaction are people going to expect of you playing an RPG? That's a point with face cams is to attract the audience of teens who have never heard of a joke and think some guy with an accent yelling rape, making weird faces and doing weird voices is funny. They don't give a shit about the game, they're there for the guy whose face is covering 75% of the game with a million annotations telling you to watch his other videos like "Happy Wheels Part 417 and a half", subscribe to his other gaming channel to keep the money going, all in a while a dubstep version of his singing in a part of a game plays over the "CHECK OUT MY OTHER VIDEOS".
Okay, I'm going off course with a point on why I'm doing a Paper Mario Let's Play even though there's many out there, probably done better or worse. The reason is because I do want to bring something new to the whole table. Many of the Let's Plays I've seen of Paper Mario (or watched one part of) it's always going through the game, 100% Completion or a blind run. At the time I haven't seen anybody do a challenge run of Paper Mario where they don't upgrade the HP after every level they gain. It's to show off that Paper Mario is much of a simple RPG that if you took away the HP upgrades for a while, you could just beat a boss in about five turns rather than more than ten. It's pretty clear I'm not on the LP wagon for a quick cash grab, being it all about me, or trying to half-ass my way to be the next Game Grumps. I'm not really saying I'm the vanguard to LP Justice because that's just dumb and silly, but I do want to try to do something different that's not already done before a thousand times.
Though hey all this time I was just waiting for the two parts to finish rendering. I don't know maybe it was something that was on my chest for a while and I had to get it off somehow. I probably know alot of you aren't really interested in Let's Plays and the such, but I wouldn't blame you if the few you've heard were PewDiePie or Tobygames.
Bah I should be getting some sleep. Last thing I want to be a negative nancy. Usually I'd end it right here with a baby dressed as a burger or something and rant about that but I don't so here's a cat instead.
