I begin this chapter on One Island, where I go in pretty much blindfolded. I head east onto another water route. I decide to see what wild pokemon I can find. So I surf, and surf, and...
I find a Tentacool, level 40 this time around. Since I don’t have a no-dupe rule in place, I can catch this. Once again, I sleep it and catch it with no issues.
So Hen Tie II, daughter of Hen Tie, joins the party. While I’d like to use it immediately, the PC on One Island doesn’t work, so I’ll have to wait. I go through Kindle Road, beating every trainer I can and getting stuck at Mt. Ember, due to lack of my HM slave. I head back to where I started and take the ferry to Two Island. I start heading up the route north of Two Island, walk through the grass, and come across a wild Golduck!
I sleep it, get a few acids on it, and then catch it, although Blaze It does receive a bit of damage in the process.
Kahuna joins the party. At least I have ample Water backups now. I head to the end of the route, where a channeler type individual is awaiting me. I get Charizard’s “ultimate” move, Blast Burn, from her. This will come in handy, I’m certain.
I then head to Three Island, where I’m greeted by a bike gang, who I quickly deal with with a combination of ShortStack, AngryDragn, and RNGsus. I then head north and west, where I come across another route. The first pokemon I encounter here is Pidgeotto, who I sleep, acid, and catch.
CritChickn joins the party. While I’m tempted to bring him out as a main, I have a feeling that I won’t have a flying type in my party much longer, since I have AngryDragn for grass and bug types, and RNGsus AND AngryDragn for Fighting Types.
So I proceed to burn through all the trainers on the route, and come across Berry Forest. When I made the rules in Chapter 1, I didn’t even think about these islands. So after some deliberation, I’m considering this forest a route separate from the previous route. I take a few steps in the forest and come across a wild Exeggcute. I sleep it and catch it, as per usual.
Benedict joins the party, giving me a much-needed grass backup. I proceed through the forest and eventually reach Lostelle, who I take back to Two Island. So with that taken care of, I get Chuk out of the PC, teach him Rock Smash, and make my way back to One Island. I head up to Mt. Ember. Like with Berry Forest, I consider it a separate route, for all intents and purposes. I come across a wild Ponyta as my first pokemon on this route. While I don’t expect to lose AngryDragn, it can happen, so as always, a backup doesn’t hurt. The usual capture method applies. Sleep, catch, win.
Best Pone joins the party.
I make my way up the mountain, finally encountering Moltres, who I then kill, since capturing legendaries is against the rules.
So with the islands dealt with, I make my way back to Kanto. I get Sup Ash back out of the box, and fly to Route 10, where I make my way to the power plant. I never caught anything on this route, so I still have a chance to find something. I make my way to the power plant, and find a wild Tentacool, level 5. I sleep and catch it.
Hen Tie 3 joins the party.
After beating the random Pokemaniac, I go into the Power Plant. I start walking through, and come across a wild Magnemite. I catch it like I always catch pokemon.
MIRACLES joins the party.
I make my way through the rest of the power plant, getting ShortStack some experience along the way. I finally come across wild Zapdos. Since he has no electric attacks, I open with AngryDragn, who proceeds to two-shot him.
After getting through the Power Plant, I fly to Fuchsia City, switch Sup Ash for MIRACLES, and do some more grinding to help get MIRACLES up to speed.
After evolving it, I go back to the Fuchsia City pokemon center, where I switch out RNGsus for Chuk, since I’m going to explore the Seafoam Islands next.
Without thinking, I fry the first pokemon I see, which was a Psyduck anyway. No big loss. I go through the cave, looting everything and pounding Articuno with AngryDragn. I come back out of the cave, and make my way to Viridian City, doing some grinding on the Tangela-only route in the process (I’ll be coming back again soon, I’m sure. It’s a very impressive area for grinding.)
I bring RNGsus back into the party, and make my way into the Viridian Gym. I burn through all of the trainers with no issue, and come across the one thing between me and my Earth Badge: Giovanni.
He opens with Rhyhorn, while I open with Hen Tie II. I get the first attack, one-shotting Rhyhorn with Surf. He switches to Dugtrio, while I switch to AngryDragn, since I’m not risking losing Hen Tie II to an Earthquake or something like that. Dugtrio gets one-shot by Flamethrower. He uses Rhyhorn next, while I switch back to Hen Tie II. His second Rhyhorn gets one-shot by Surf as well, so he then switches to Nidoqueen, while I switch to RNGsus. RNGsus then one-shots Nidoqueen with Psychic, then one-shots his Nidoking in the same fashion. In what has been a terribly one-sided battle, I walk away triumphantly with an Earth Badge.
So I make my way to the Pokemon Center to close this chapter. I may have won every badge, but my biggest challenge still awaits. Will I be able to triumph over the Elite Four and take my rightful place as champion of the Pokemon League, or will my entire team be wiped out due to the pressure that the Pokemon League brings? Find out next time, on Darkie Does Nuzlocke!
